Valley Fever: A Desert Menace and Mystery Katelyn Newman 3 days ago

So back in the late 80’s I was completing training at Davis Monthan AFB, outside Tuscon AZ.  A few days after returning back to F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne Wy, I was hospitalized with fevers breaching 106 (many ice baths followed), as well as lung and breathing issues, and welts the size of softballs on my legs and body; I was diagnosed with “Valley Fever”, or coccidioidomycosis.  I have to explain to medical professionals even today what it is…… Millions of residents and visitors traveling to the American Southwest each year may not know that the air they breathe could …

Hail hurts 14 people, kills 2 birds at Colorado zoo

Hail hurts 14 people, kills 2 birds at Colorado zooWOW….this happened within miles of my daughter Shannon’s house.  The storm was bad, but I was not aware how bad.  The people and the animals are in my thoughts……. A powerful storm that pummeled a busy Colorado zoo with large hail injured 14 people and killed two animals. The Colorado Springs Fire Department says five people were taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries after the short but intense storm passed over Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on Monday afternoon.

Lightning….Lightning streaks through the sky at night, Chasing shadows going left and right.Clearing the way for more to come,Dancing in the darkness, not to be outdone. The wind howls and provides its song, For the lightning to dance all night long. With crescendos of sounds; crashing and banging,Any loose thing can add sounds clanging. The clouds hide the stars and moon,The sound of thunder, echo the doom.Of the power within the streaks of might,So beautiful God’s writing …

Day 1, 30 Day Challenge

What did you enjoy most / least about today’s challenge? The least enjoyable thing about today’s challenge was trying to figure out how to photograph my interpretation of God’s love for me. I kept asking myself how, what, where…..and all day I tried to come up with the answers to these questions. I struggled with this, and even thought that as a photographer the 30-day art challenge might not be for me. But, as I relaxed, and asked God for guidance, I was enlightened that I did not have to use today’s picture to show God’s love, but any picture that …
